Proposals are accepted on a year round basis. Proposals should be
clear, logical, supported with appropriate data and/or documentation, and
should address an issue in Central New York
related to children, women or environmental conservation. Applicants must
be not-for-profit organizations.

If you are mailing the proposals, please do not use certified mail or any
other form of mail that has to be signed for. Do not follow up with calls. We will
contact you if we decide to award a grant to your organizations.
In general, grant requests should include:
A cover letter:
- Amount of proposed grant
- Purpose
- Anticipated budget
An itemized budget:
- Current and anticipated funds
- Sources of income
- Contributions received to
date
- Any fundraising expenses
- Other expected expenses
- Latest audited financial
statement
- Current IRS tax filing (Form
990)
Background information:
- Mission
statement
- Geographic scope
- Size of volunteer involvement
Other information:
- Other corporations,
government agencies, or foundations being approached for funding.
- Names and business
affiliations of organization's officers and board of directors (including
any advisory boards or committees specific to grant proposal) and
frequency of board meetings. Please do not include addresses and phone
numbers of Board members.
- Explain need for the funding
and specifically how proposal results will be measured.
- Copy of not-for-profit 501(c)(3) determination from the IRS showing evidence of
tax-exempt status.
- Evaluation of any previous
years' funding from Joan Rothenberg Family Foundation, including how
funding was used within your organization.
